Changing a sink and faucet in a bathroom and have used Kraus sinks in the past and loved the quality. Read some not so hot reviews on this after I ordered it but decided to go ahead. Just like other complaints the seal / washers that come with this, coupled with the very coarse threads for attachment to the sink do not allow for a watertight installation, With a very particular sink type it might work but my plumber and myself had a difficult time get the drain to the P trap sealed, still messing with that even after applying silicone at the joints. This unit and it’s fitting need to be
re-thought…love the cosmetics ..dislike the performance!

It’s a very nice looking drain. Feels really sturdy, no leaks so far after installing. Definitely recommend. I have used cheap drains and there’s a noticable difference

Easy to install and pop-up mechanism seems to be sturdy. But be aware that you will need some teflon tape to eliminate leakage. Other than this quality is great.

This is a little bit of a statement piece as the head of the pop up drain is quite large compared to most of the others I have seen, but seems well made and came with quality parts. The reason for four stars is because installing as the directions showed gave us a small leak at the base of the sink no matter what we did. My dad has installed countless drains for us over the years and we had trouble with this one because of one of the washers. It has a concave washer and the picture doesn’t show which way it should go on in the directions that came with it. The picture on krausoutlet.com shows the concave portion facing up toward the sink, which is how we tried first. We ended up switching it to where the concave side of the washer faced down and it fixed the problem and we haven’t had any trouble since. Made for a frustrating 20 minutes trying to find out why is was leaking, but looks great now.

Excellent replacement for old style Rube Goldberg popup drains. The head is wider than the standard popup which my wife and I don’t mind. In the event of a hair or debris clog, simply unscrew the head and remove the debris. No build up around an actuator rod as there is none. A number of reviewers mentioned leakage problems around the securing nut under the basin and recommended plumber’s putty. Plumber’s putty will not stop the leak because of the design of overflow basins. Simply wrap the threads with several layers of Teflon tape (or if you are a belts and suspenders type, paint a coat of Teflon pipe dope on the threads before wrapping it) hand tighten the nut and give it a turn with a wrench until you meet firm resistance. Don’t over tighten. I have installed two of these in my own home and several for customers with zero problems. Most likely you will have to install a tailpiece extender so be sure to have one on hand before you start.

This product is way better than what you can pick up at the hardware store. It’s a solid piece of metal and the overflow slots are better positioned (for our sink the one we had gotten first had higher overflow holes, leading to water building up in the overflow). The rubber gaskets are of good quality, but like any other drain you’ll still need properly applied plumber’s putty at the bottom flange to get a good, watertight seal.
The only negative for this drain is that the chromed finish has a tendency to build up scum that’s very hard to clean off.

We have now purchased 4 of these pop-up drains, 2 with overflow, two without. They look good, and do the job. The first two were installed a year ago by our plumber. This year we updated another bathroom and purchased two more with overflow ( different sink design) which we installed ourselves without difficulty.
Pros: Does the job, looks good, easy to install.
Cons: None.
Conclusion: We have purchased several products from Kraus and have never been disappointed with the quality or price. You cannot go wrong with these drains.

Have to say that despite installing exactly as manufacturer instructions, there is an ever so slight leak around the threads as many others have written. So, I followed the others, used teflon tape on drain assembly threads, plumbers putty instead of gasket and no leak to be found. Perhaps this is due to slight imperfections on porcelain sinks but old school installation works best here. I would recommend the product would just also recommend to go rouge on the install.
Update: contacted manufacturer and they are sending replacements as they believe the rubber gaskets should be sufficient.
