So this is proprietary for the Kraus Square drain sinks. I like the sink but was frustrated with the the push down and pop up built in strainer for the disposal adapter which prevented getting larger garbage pieces down into the disposal. It caused some frustration, until later. But with nothing describing there being a removable part in the product description until I went back and read other reviews more carefully I found one sharp reviewer that did, I am happy to report that the center 3 pronged element is easily removed to put any larger garbage down. See photos. Once I figured this out we are much happier with the product. I was surprised that this process isn't described in the product description. See photos.

Our home was flooded on 9-28-22 during Hurricane Ian (Cape Coral, FL). We had to move out for several months while home was gutted and re-sheetrocked, including entire kitchen had to be replaced. This sink and disposal (both KRAUS) were installed just over 1 year ago (approx. 12-22-22). In less than one year, this sink has developed stains, scratches etc.. (see photos--difficult to photo stainless but you can see the stains/scratches. Now I am the ONLY person living here (a retired senior). My dear hubby passed away quite unexpectedly in March 2023. So there is only ONE person here (me), who is doing very little cooking since my husband's passing. Totally unacceptable for a sink in this price range. We purchased another stainless sink for the laundry room --less than 1/2 the price of the KRAUS and it is holding up much better. I have been so careful with maintenance- I use DAWN dish liquid to clean the sink and cloth, sponge and paper towel to wipe down after use. I rarely leave negative reviews however on an item that is really a focal point in one's kitchen and used daily, I felt it was my responsibility to forewarn folks who may be considering this sink. My son put in a new kitchen a few years ago in their home (there are 3 of them living there) - that stainless sink looks perfectly fine-- no obvious scratches or discoloration (but it is NOT a KRAUS). Even the KRAUS disposal unit that we purchased barely works-- we should have left the old one in and saved $$. If I could give ZERO stars I would have.

Matches faucet. Fills from top

The spray button has developed a leak in 2 years after we purchased.

Edit: as you can see from my second photo, the nut inside that holds everything together is starting to get rust pits. This is very disappointing because the unit is advertised as being made from stainless steel so this metal part should be made from stainless steel too. When something rusts, it expands and since the shell is made from plastic, the rusting screw might crack it. I wonder how long before it’s so rusted it either falls apart or cannot be unscrewed. Original review: I used plumbers putty instead of the rubber gasket because I'm old fashioned and I wanted a tight finished look in the sink bottom. However, since this is a "shell" design, you technically would not need putty or the gasket. That is because any water that gets under the flange goes right into the shell of the unit, which is self-contained and open to the drain. So instead of the water seal being in the bottom of the sink under the flange, the actual water seal is underneath the sink where the shell of this unit makes contact to the underside of the sink. As far as the design, it's great... this deep basket catches everything very well. As far as the shell, leaks are less likely, but I believe you might get crud or slime buildup inside the shell. The shell is hollow between the inside metal pieces and the outside plastic pieces. Gravity takes water down, but if crud or slime decides to stay inside that shell and grow, nothing would be able to stop it or flush it out. You would have to take it apart and manually clean.

This sink has it all!!!! Class and quality of Kraus shines through at an awesome price. Looks lovely on a vintage dresser. Tons of compliments. I would highly recommend.

Very happy with our sink , installed no issues! We went with drop in , seems very nice and the strainer is top notch ! Waiting to install faucet! Can't go wrong for the price at all , it's a looker for sure ! Very happy ! Of course time will tell but no issues ! Ours is the 24 inch version ..

It took less than an hour to install.

Looks great and was exactly what we were wanting. Easy to install and very sturdy

It’s perfect for the space we have in the powder room. Beautiful and really completes the room.

Sink is beautiful! I love how deep it is, it can fit a lot! Highly recommend!

Nice sink looks good and easy to install. However, now after having it in use for about six weeks I now have a problem with it. First let me say that we have babied this sink, after each use it is wiped dry. I even purchased a spoon rest to hold a dishcloth to use only to dry the sink, and used the sink recommended cleaner / sealer probably two times a day on the sink. So all was well, even though this constant drying / cleaning / sealing is a pain the sink looked good. That is until a few days ago that I left a COLD casserole dish to soak overnight. The dish had Dawn soap in it and had water in it to soak. Next morning I cleaned the dish and dried the sink and there in the sink is a perfect outline of the dish in a lighter color than the rest of the sink. So I used the cleaner / sealer that did nothing, let the sink dry for day, stain still there. Tried washing the sink using Dawn, stain still there, tried the cleaner / sealer again it's still there. So now I have a sink with the outline of a dish in the bottom of it! So at this point I will have to call this sink junk. And when I said we babied this sink we really did. Now about 4 months old, looks like ##@p bottom faded very badly. Only have used dawn soap. Junk looks terrible. 1/14/24 UPDATE Now after owning this sink for 2 1/2 yrs I would not buy again. But I have discovered a maintenance tip to somewhat restore the sink’s appearance after it fades. Wash the sink let it dry then using a paper towel apply a coat of oil, I use olive oil to complete sink, let that set 1/2 hr then wipe dry paper towel. Sink will look really good for a few weeks then repeat. The picture is after oiling.

I ordered two of these to go with my new marble countertops. The sink is flush with the countertop opening, but the unfinished porcelain rim is still visible.

I started upgrading my kitchen a couple of years ago. First, the kitchen faucet was upgraded from the standard contractor grade faucet to a cheap version of a commercial kitchen type. It was okay. But, just okay. For what it LOOKED like, it really didn't perform. This one from KrausUSA is much better. It's well made, quality materials, quality construction. It installed very easily. No special fittings or adapters required. All the components needed for a perfect installation are included. Like most plumbing fixtures sold in the USA, it comes with a flow restrictor built in. BUT, it comes with another restrictor that allows a little more flow than standard. And, me being a 'full force' guy, I have figured out how to eliminate the restriction completely. This KrausUSA faucet is only lacking one feature, an extended pull out nozzle. it could be that they thought you wouldn't want the pull out feature, if you already had the spring mounted pull down type. I would have preferred both. But, on the other hand, the constant wear of being pulled out might have caused a lot of damage on the casing of the leader, in this coil spring design. So, okay. I am making a few minor, probably just personal preference, modifications. But, overall, this a a great, commercial similar, kitchen faucet at a reasonable price.
